Development of cryomodule for ERL main linac

Sakai, Hiroshi*; Umemori, Kensei*; Sato, Masato*; Sawamura, Masaru; Shinoe, Kenji*; Furuya, Takaaki*; Cenni, E.*

no journal, ,

We are developing a cryomodule for ERL main linac consisting of 1.3GHz superconducting cavities. Two models of superconducting cavities were fabricated and achieved about 25MV/m. They also satisfied the requirement of 1$$times$$10$$^{10}$$ of Q0 at 25MV/m of accelerating field. Two cavities for cERL module were fabricated and vertical measurements are in progress. High power test for the input coupler was performed by cooling at liquid nitrogen temperature in the vacuum chamber. The input coupler could feed 25kW after 8-hour process and keep 20kW standing wave for 16 hours, which satisfied the power level for ERL main linac. HOM absorber models were fabricated and sufficiently damped HOM in the cavity. We have adopted slide-jack-type tuners and piezo tuners.

Development of ERL superconducting cavity for main linac

no journal, ,

We are developing 1.3GHz 9-cell superconducting cavities for ERL main linac. A cryomodule with two 9-cell cavities for cERL are under design and fabrication. Two superconducting cavities have stiffness rings between cells and Ti end plates for helium jacket. Flanges are made of Nb-Ti and helicoflex are used for vacuum seal. After surface treatment such as 1st-electrical polishing, anneal, pre-tuning, 2nd-electrical polishing, high pressure rinse, cavities are assembled, baked for vertical measurement. Due to CW operation ERL requires accelerating field of 15-20MV/m and less field emission to reduce refrigerator load of dark current. Surface treatment and assemble are carefully performed to achieve 1$$times$$10$$^{10}$$ at operation. After confirming the cavity performance helium jacket will be welded. After equipping the HOM absorber, the input coupler and the tuner the cavity will be installed into the module.

no journal, ,

We are developing an input coupler for 1.3GHz CW superconducting cavity. After settling the heat problem of the ceramics modified model achieved feeding power over 20kW. The input coupler was installed into the vacuum chamber, cooling by liquid nitrogen, which is almost same as operating condition. Test showed good results and satisfied the requirement of the input coupler for CW superconducting cavity.

Energy dispersive X-ray diffraction measurements using a multi-element SSD, 2

Katayama, Yoshinori; Saito, Hiroyuki; Kaneko, Hiroshi*

no journal, ,

In high-temperature high-pressure X-ray diffraction experiments using a large-volume press, a sharp collimator is used to remove background scattering. An energy-dispersive X-ray diffraction method is efficient because a whole diffraction pattern can be measured at a fixed diffraction angle. However, several measurements at different diffraction angles are necessary for wide-Q range measurements in liquid studies. We have constructed a system with a multi-element SSD with four 8mm $$times$$ 8mm elements to reduce data acquisition time. To remove background scattering a multi-channel collimator was used. Experiments were carried out using a cubic-type multi-anvil press on BL14B1 beamline at SPring-8. We have measured diffraction pattern of silica glass at ambient conditions and liquid iron hydrogen alloy under high pressure and high temperature using the system.
